We want nothing more than for your floors to preserve their natural qualities for years. Over our 10+ years of business, we have found these tips necessary for lasting quality
Sweeping and mopping will remove most dirt, however, the most effective tool for removing finer particles of dust and grit that grind of finish, is a dust mop. To ensure your floors look their best, it is best to dust mop once a week minimum. If you choose to vacuum, use a soft bristle attachment
When mopping to remove spills or trapped in dirt, we recommend damp mopping with Pronature products
If you anticipate the need for a fresh buff and coat, never wax or polish your floors. The films left by the waxes and polishes cannot be coated over. Consult us at Lyson Wood and Maintenance if you have any questions about waxes or polishes. (Note: oil soaps are not to be used for the same reason).
Several years of hard use may require a re-coating to restore the finish of your floors. The floor should be coated when it shows signs of wear and can be done with minimal inconvenience. If you are not sure how to judge when your floor is due for a re-coat, our rule of thumb is about every 3-5 years, depending on your household traffic
To provide the best conditions for your hardwood floors, We recommends a relative humidity of 30% to 50% and a temperature range of 15 to 30°C. (Note: A humidifier is necessary during the winter and an air conditioner or dehumidifier is necessary during the summer to reduce crack and cracking
